Hey, I picked up a 2in rear suspension block lift kit from autozone today (cheap $30, looks somewhat rugged enough for a smaller truck) and I'm currently in the process of installing it, but I had a few questions. So far I've removed the U bolts, which was a pain-staking process with hand tools. Now on to the questions;

1. There's a bolt that goes straight through the leaf springs, looks like it goes to the mount where the block will go, whats the best way to go about removing that? I attempted it with a socket wrench but the whole bolt just spins.
2. Wheres the best place to position the jacks after everything is disconnected?
3. I'm assuming they wont judging by the way they're mounted, but the leaf springs wont deform (come apart, etc) once that bolt in the center is removed correct?

 

I know on the ones that I put on my truck it had a hole in one side and a alignment pin on the other. The pin goes face down on the spring mount and the bolt will fit into the hole on the other side of the block. It works as a alignment point

 

Yes there is a alignment pin that fits in leaf spring. Just support the rear and remove the u-bolts.I just jacked the whole rear supported each side with jack stands. New blocks should of came with new u-bolts.What are you doing with front?

 

What they said. Don't remove the center bolt from the spring. You will have a hard time putting it back together and you could get hurt if it's under tension when you take the nut off.

 

Probably reindexed keys for the front. Where would you suggest the best place to place the jack?

 

Jack stands just place under axles near wheel. May want to start soaking down those bolts for torsion keys they can be a bear if they never been out.

 

Blocks are done, wasnt as bad as i thought it was going to be

 

what did you do about the center bolt I'm having the same issue on my 05 Dakota

 

You don't remove the center bolt, the blocks should have a hole for the centering pin to sit in, if not you will either need to drill out the block so it will fit, or get the correct blocks for your truck.
