Here's an odd answer that's an industry practice LOL..I worked at a Large reputable Instant oil change place//their method was stick your finger in filler hole to 2nd knuckle, bend finger towards the oil level and the oil should cover to the 1st knuckle n your finger, roughly 1 inch below filler hole..This is no **** LOL, Just thought i'd share it

Default The Chrysler 8.25

The Chrysler 8.25 cover plate is considered to have a small defect from the many articles I have read the fill hole was too low causing the Chrysler 8.25 to always have a less amount of oil in them than could or should be inside them.

Most aftermarket cover plates for the 8.25 have a higher fill hole so you can fill them to what the proper level was meant to be on the drawing board from day one. A lot of 4X4 owners that use the Chrysler 8.25 understand this but most 4X4 owners avoid the Chrysler 8.25 they think it is weaker than the Chrysler 9.25

I have the Solid cover on mine and it holds about 4 quarts of oil now.

You can just add the additive any time. It will get mixed in but Dodge recommends you do some "figure 8's" to work it into the clutch.
Thanks, man. I'm happy to get the word directly from the FSM.

And he expects an accurate clear answer?
Well, first I'll say I'm sorry you feel I insulted you. I don't know you from Adam (and I'm not sure I want to, judging from the tone of your replies), and I didn't feel comfortable following one person's advice unless I knew something about their expertise.
One thing I noticed was that you have a 2.5 engine, and for all I know, it has a 7.25 rear end; that's one reason I wanted further confirmation.
I'm sorry I didn't supply enough information about my truck. That was not helpful, I'm sure. It is a 2004 2wd with a 4.7. I don't know which diff it has; a search of the website didn't help me discover how to tell the difference. Maybe you can enlighten me??
Peace!!
