Default Tensioner Clunk

So I'm on my 3rd Tensionor; they all work fine but make a ticking/clunking sound from inside.. this one makes the worst sound.. you can hear it outside..

It works fine but its making a clunking sound.. I'm thinking about lubing the inside spring up.. and want to see what people think; lithium spray or put bearing grease in there?

does yours swing wildly with the engine running? Could you have too long (or short) of a belt and the tensioner is bouncing off the stops (if it has any?)

I would think his Dakota would be squealing like a stuck pig down the road if that was the case

but you never know stranger things have happened

A suggestion look for a cracked A/C bracket or other bracket/brace

I checked all that out everything seems fine.. there is a little play in the Power stearing pully forward back just like .00000001 of an inch.. if you get how little it is.. (the number is just to indicate how little the play is) this is something Dayco said was something they found on these trucks that cause squels. And yes i was getting a cold start squeal up till it got warmed up.. it was more of a squeal squel squel. Was misalignment of the belt.. prolly cus of the PS pump. New belt would last about a month and start squeak squeak on cold startup.. Now I'm running GoodYear Gatorback.. Problem solved.

oN the tensionor; it bounces a little but it's not flopping.. and is not reaching it's limit of motion. its just something inside seems its not lubed properly.

Water pump.. seems ok.. no noise can be found from it.. through thes. and it's fairly new.

If i put my old one back on.. it has the twitch just like the new one's but dont have the same sounds as the new ones; being it's made of round coil springs; vs flat ones like the new ones, I guess thats the big difference.. so I'm thinking it needs to be lubed; but considering rather to use lithium greace (the spay stuff) or use actual Greece you would pack bearings with or lube points...
