Question Transfer case clicking

Got a issue with the transfer case clicking when truck is in gear. Does not matter if it is in reverse or drive. Any thoughts? Has electronic shifter for transfer case

Is this the vehicle in your sig or something else? A 2000 is not electronic.

Stretched chain maybe?

Could be the chain. May also be a bad bearing.

I had that same problem and ended up replacing the transfer case, found out that the shift forks were messed up and didn't want to hold it in 4wd. As long as it was in 2 wheel it wouldn't make any noises.
