When I first bought my truck, there would be a loud squeak from the front end whenever I hit a bump, turned my wheels, get in my truck, etc. So I replaced my shocks, which helped a little bit. After getting under my truck, in the area I call the a-frame, there is a little black boot that separates when the truck is jacked up, and sits and rest when it is on its own weight. I can take photos later, but these boots are ripped to shreds, and I believe that is what is causing my squeak. Does anyone know what the boot is called? From memory, I believe it sits below my shock or there area there of. I have been looking for diagrams of that area but haven't been successful. Thank you.
That sounds like you are describing the bump stops. If your truck is resting on the stops then you need to crank on your torsion bars to lift that front end up!
These are the pictures off my truck. As I was looking, I believe my bump stops are ok, at least it is what sits above these. But thanks. IMG_0797.jpgPASSENGER SIDE
dude your stops are destroyed! Since you said is squeaks when going over bumps or turning I think that cranking on your torsion bars would help. In theory it would raise up the suspension giving you more up-travel before hitting the stops.
