Thermostat could be sticking ( hard to get good parts anymore) or you may just have air in the cooling system.

I had the 2 plugs right off the a/c compressor unhooked and the one plug that was on that round canister that dak posted and when I started the truck to leave before the e-fan still came on right away. The vent was just a normal vent noticeably warmer than it usually is.

Something is calling for the a/c then.

Can you pull the electrical connector on the control head and hook everything else back up.

Dan

So you think his controller is bad?

I wonder if just taking it apart and cleaning it then putting new gel in would fix it?

I suppose I could if I was positive what you were talking about. I'm guessing you mean unhook it from the actual control in the dash? At least that's what I'm guessing from looking at dakazs pic. Also dakaz do you just have millions of pictures of everything relating to a dakota saved on your computer? They are very helpful that's for sure. Ill just go ahead and thank both of you for the help so far I'd be at a complete loss without you

That's what I mean, the controller.

Something is calling for the A/C when it shouldn't. It's the most likely place to look at first.

If you are pulling the controller out there is a trick to the cable look underneath there is a push in tad that releases it most never see this and just yank it out.

Alright I will hopefully have time to try this tomorrow. It's finally football Sunday and that is all I have planned for the day.

Lightbulb disassemble the A/C controller

I’m putting this up now if it’s needed how to disassemble the A/C controller. The contact lub you will need is Permatex 22058 Dielectric Tune-Up Grease at most auto stores.

A link
Amazon Amazon

Take note on how everything comes apart so you can get it back together
