yeah as in the diagram the compressor is upper left.. any ideas of belt part numbers or brackets ? my local ex dodge is pulling his hair out trying to find me parts since the daks bearing froze up today and engine wont even turn over or well does but with alot of binding and then sparks shoot out of compressor so truck being towed down to exdealer today..

im more then happy to pass on chrysler part numbers or any info since this is the closeth auto repair my roadside would tow me to for free .. #countrylivingsometimessucks

Either call a parts store and ask for a bypass pulley. Or take the belt off and take it to a parts store they should be able to measure it and give you a idea of what belt you need. I would get 3 different sizes just so if one is a little tight/loose you can try a different one.

When i did my bypass on my 5.9 i took a ratchet for the tensioner and sat right in their parking lot until i had the right belt. I'm sure no one would say anything to you either as long as you weren't making a mess.

Btw i didn't get a bypass pulley, just removed the compressor and put on a shorter belt. On the 5.9 it cleared the compressor good enough to get home and take it off

yea pretty sure with the 4.7 you'll need the bypass pulley without question.

In an emergency, I've been told to drill out a skateboard wheel and shove it in place of any pulley that needs bypassing. Not sure how well it works, supposedly they're self lubicating.

I know it's an obvious and stupid question, but why don't you just get another compressor?

On my 95 dodge dakota with the 3.9 I bypassed the a/c compressor with a 905k7 belt 905 being the length and k7 being the number of groves... it may work for 97-up

The 4.7 is the same engine regardless, why would the year matter?
