Hello there, I have a 1998 with nearly 250k on the motor. Original owner. I am still using the Stock alternator. And on top of that I am running a 1000 watt sound system as well. So even being old as hell and put through loads it wasn't designed for, It still to this day keep working just fine. These Dakota's are built pretty tough so I would worry to much about parts breaking all the time. It's a safe buy.

Thanks for all the responses, I was understandably alternator-shy after my previous experiences.

With my 2004 DAK and only 95K miles sounds like I should have no worries!
