Default What could it be?

So I swapped the motor with one out of a wrecked truck. Same year and motor of course. By the way its a 98 Dakota sport 3.9 2 wheel drive. I put new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor in. Changed themaf sensor with the one out of my old motor. It still lopes really bad and idles crappy. Seams like its out of time. I think it got a miss fire on the passenger side. I thought it was the cps but I unplugged it and the truck wouldn't even start. So I don't think that's it. What else could it be do you think it could be a bad ground? I might not have put all the grounds in the right place.

Is it showing any codes? Recheck all of your hookups including grounds. If they have protective covers need to remove those just to get a real good look at the wiring. What about other sensors? Your TPS and IAC . Also your MAP sensor and Cam sensor.

OK so I double checked everything! And I in hooked the battery last night so the ecu would reset. I just started it and now I'm not getting any codes. It still runs like its out of time. Do you think I would have to try and drive it a bit for the ecu to set the timing?

Are you sure your wrecked motor was any good? Check your wiring order. Confirm a misfire condition by pulling your wires and verify they make a change in motor performance... If one doesnt seem to effect it then furth investigation is required.... If two... try swapping the wires...

The wrecked motor fires right up on the first crank! I went threw the firing order and chased all the wires they are fine. I got it from a friend that owns a towing company. He said he pulled from a wrecked Dakota and he started it and it ran fine. The guy didn't have insurance or the money to fix the truck or pay the towing so he gave my buddy the title. It sat for a few months outside but under a car port.

I am assuming that when it was in the other truck and it was started there was no issues.
