Default Left Low Beam Headlight Problems

The left low beam headlight has started giving me fits on my 2001 Dakota. Sometimes it flickers and other times doesn't come on at all. I have replaced the bulb with no luck. The left high beam and the right low and high beams all work fine. Any ideas? I've read about problems with the CTM. Is there a way to troubleshoot this without taking it to the dealer and spending big $'s?

All you can really do is eliminate possibilities.

The wiring for the headlight is direct to the CTM. If both high/low were doing it I'd check the ground, located between the fender and the battery, it can't hurt.

Make sure the socket is OK, no corrosion, and that the connectors at the CTM, Connector 3 which is the smallest, has 12 connections, is clean and tight. Pin #4, a violet with white tracer is the feed to the left headlamp low beam.

Good luck.
