What was in your Dakota to start and why are you changing it out for the AX-15?

What is your engine now?

that brings up another question. what's a good way to identify your tranny? I assumed it's an ax15 also because the shifter does not unscrew like it does in the Nv1500 and Nv3500. anyways, I have a four cylinder 2.5 with about 165k on it and the tranny is starting to go.

I think it says in your glove box what your trans is

If you have an AX-15 now and you want to swap it should be ok only concern is the one you are replacing it with what engine was in it?

I’m no trans specialist but if it had a different engine in it the gearing could be different ask master teck on this forum he is the trans expert.

95 is kind of old you may be buying only a few years swaping
