Rearview Mirror Mounting Button
Yesterday, my rear view mirror fell off. That's never happened to me before. I picked up some adhesive at the parts store. The man said he had done many of these and it was easy.
"Just be sure to get all the old adhesive off."
As I look at the button, I see what appears to be an acrylic pad on the button itself. My question is whether that is the actual adhesive that came with the windshield. Or is it some buffering pad that is supposed to be between the glass and metal?
Thanks,
Tom

There shouldn't be any type of buffering pad. Clean the "puck" back down to bare metal. Scrape the adhesive off the windshield. Mark the area on the windshield where the puck where be glued. I use tape on the outside to mark it. Make sure the "puck" is facing the right way for the mirror to fasten proplerly. Follow the directions on the adhesive package. It is important NOT to use a large amount of adhesive. Too much and it will never cure. Two small pin head dots are all you need. Give it a couple of days before you fasten the mirror back.
