Need help
Aloha,
I have a 2000 dodge dakota quad cab 3.9l v6 magnum 4x4. I have bin having some problems with my truck staling out. It idles just fine but when I press the gas the intake sounds like its sucking in air fast and it dies out. Sometimes it makes sort of a popping sound what seems like its coming from the intake. I have made sure all vacume lines are closed. It's not leaking fuel, and the injectors are working properly. I have had to bypass the purge selinoid so it idles properly. When I checked the fuel pump it wouldn't always come on. So I rigged a toggle switch and he pump works but sometime I have to tap the sending unit to get it started. I am wondering if it is a combination of things or if it could just be he sending unit. Please help if you can much mahalos for reading. Aloha

It sounds like your possibly having something partially blocking your air intake. Whether it is before your filter or for some weird reason after your filter. That could account for why it sounds like it is sucking in a lot of air and when you add more fuel the mixture becoming too rich could kill the engine as well. Stalling can be caused by a lot of things, so I can't say that will fix it.
You didn't by any chance just buy a k&n air filter did you? I had something similar happen twice. Once i had bought a k&n filter that was waaaay over oiled and it actually starved the engine for air and died off like that. The other time i was driving in the rain with the home brew cai and sucked up enough water my filter that it starved for air and actually sucked my intake hose shut. Just an idea.
