So my check engine light came on about a week ago. I did the key turn diagnostics and got a P0442 code which from what I read in searching the forum is pretty common. Anyways I didn't have time to check into it much but I did fill up with gas during the week. Now today I got in my truck and my check engine light is off but when I do the key turn diagnostic the p0442 code still appears. I'm just wondering if the code is just stored in the memory and shows up still now that the check engine light is off or do I still have a problem?

 

My truck does the same thing.
I have no check engine light, even during lamp check with ignition in on position.
But i have codes when I do the key diag.

I thought burn bulb, but i took the cluster out to find its a LED, and the LED does work.

Anyone seen this before?

 

The 0442 EVAP vacuum check is only ran between the 1/4 tank marks. That said, I've never had the light turn off....
