Default overdrive question

02 Dakota quad cab 4x4,4.7, 45 RFE. i just bought this truck so i don't know if i really have a problem or not. when the truck is cold it seems to take a long time to shift into overdrive, usually 4 or 5 miles or until the motor is at normal temp. after that it shifts fine. i've changed the tranny fluid and both filters and also the throttle position sensor and the speed output sensor. just wondering if i have a problem or is this normal to this tranny. thanks!!

it will only shift into overdrive once it reaches operating temp. Not a problem

I know the map sensor also helps the PCM decide what to do with the trans. so do the input and output sore sensors. if these go out you'll have more issues than delayed shifts. something to keep in mind

are you talking about the speed sensors on the transmission? i changed the output sensor but not the input. it was kicking out of overdrive at 65 to 70 mph with just a slight touch of the gas but has gotten better since i changed the sensor. the reason for the throttle position sensor change was the engine hunting at idle that has also stopped. i will change the input sensor soon.
