Valvoline Next Gen
Anyone here used it yet? I never really gave much thought to using it before but if it offers the same performance and protection of standard oils why not use it? Seems senseless not to reuse oil if we can use it again. I did a search but didn't see anything so I was wondering if anyone has tried it yet, either the conventional or higher mileage one.
It seems to me like it should be less expensive then standard oil, but it seems to be the same price. I'm not sure how extensive the process is to re-refine it, so maybe the cost is justified but I figure they probably get the used oil for next to nothing, maybe that's not the case?
Like I said, I never really gave it much thought but then figured why not? Let me know your guys thoughts. Over at BITOG, it seemed to have generally good reviews although there isn't a lot of UOA's on it yet so there wasn't a lot of proof behind using it yet. Mostly people stating they felt it would be alright.

Have you ever actually used it? What was it you didn't like? Why would you run that heavy of an oil when it calls for either 10w30 or 5w30? You're not going to get oil in all the places necessary and will kill you gas mileage.
OK you got me. i shouldn't say i dont like something, if i dont know any thing about it. my brain must have gone south. i think my oil is more than fine. if the premium blue is good enough for the factory fill cummins diesel its good enough for me. and i have checked the detailed specs on the premium blue.

I would have to say it would be fine for normal engines or valvoline could have a lot of lawsuits on there hands. I thought all engine oil had to meet or exceed manufactures specs. If I could get it on sale I'd try it. also I think only a portion of it is recycled oil
Yeah they advertise it is 50% recycled, and I'm sure its fine. It has to pass all the same tests that conventional oil has to. So I certainly don't think I will have any problems, but I have to change my oil this weekend and plan to try it... I'll let you guys know what I find.
