Default Intake Resonator

okay so i wont a little more cheap noise from my truck and i heard alot about removing the air box/silencer/intake resonator which are all the same thing but what exactly is it? i think its the box thats connected to the hose that houses the filter.. am i right? if you take that off will i get more noise and be louder? and do i have to then connect the air filter box to where the resonator connects?

He has a 4.7 so its the square part on top the engine. It might make a little bit of difference but not much. Run a cold air intake it and it will be a little deeper.
