That was more than I had in mine, but yes these 4.7's seem to do that. Clean it out, do a light motor flush, replace pcv and only use good quality synthetic oil and you should be fine if it's running right. I am almost at 200,000 on my 2003. My truck runs great and gets factory or better mpg, so I know you can keep the sludge down. If your getting hot, definitely check out your cooling system and check for head gasket failure. I know with proper maintenance and preventative care these motors will perform and last. Hope this was helpful.

I've only had to turn the heat on once on the one trip and haven't had a problem since. I don't know if the cooling system was partially clogged and is now clear or what. My truck seems to run fine to me. I drive it 40 miles a day for work. The only thing I've noticed is a loss in gas mileage. It's not significant like a mpg and I'm just guessing it's because of the winter weather. I was always told that they put more additives in the gas during the winter here because of the cold but I don't know if that's true or just a myth that's passed along.

Have you checked your tire pressure?
