Default Radiator Replacement Problem

Hey gang...I'm helping a friend replace his radiator and the new one has 2 brass (threaded) fittings that aren't on the stock rad. Can I just cap them?

I may be wrong, but they might be for the trans cooler?

I think you set a record for the fastest response! Thanks.

I just found this similar Q&A from another site via "google".

Q: I received the radiator and it looks like the wrong one... it has two extra ports or holes in it that I don't need... what do I do? A: You received the correct radiator. These extra holes are for either the automatic transmission oil cooler or the engine oil cooler, and are there for your use only if you need them. It will not affect cooling performance, and you can simply ignore it. You don't have to cap it off or anything. It acts as an independent unit and if nothing goes in, nothing will come out.

you're welcome

Our trucks dont use oil coolers, but the trans cooler does have some hard lines that come up and snake their way across the rack and generally you'd know if they were there because you'd practically be tripping over them getting the old one out.

I would see if you can find some caps, just to prevent any foreign particles from getting in and damaging/rusting out the core from the inside out.

Thanks...There's a screen in each fitting so I think we're good there.

just dont over tighten the jam nuts on the brass fittings there is o-rings in there and if overtightened they will crack and antifreeze will leak out i made this mistake good thing that autozone has a 1 year warrenty on there radiators

but something like this http://www.google.com/imgres?q=brass...r:28,s:0,i:174
