Default Check Engine Light.

2001 Dodge Dakota Quadcab 4x4 automatic with a 4.7l v-8. Engine light came on. Checked the engine code via 3 ignition cycles and came up with P0031 which if I'm not mistaken is an O2 sensor issue.

I was just wondering if the code points to a specific O2 sensor or if it is more of a general "one of your O2 sensors is faulty"

P0031 isn't in my FSM, for either 2001 or 2000 but, from what I can find it is Bank 1/Sensor 1, O2 sensor heater circuit low.

Check the oxygen sensor fuse in the PDC under the hood. It's not likely to be the problem as other O2 sensors are on it but it's worth a look.

Don't use Bosch if/when you replace the sensor.

Just curious about why I shouldn't use bosch. Is there an issue with them in Dakotas? or is it a bosch issue in general?

If you check the forums you'll find lots of people have had problems and ended up replacing Bosch O2 sensors with others, in a very short time.

Especially on the 4.7.

Denso or NGK are preferred.
