Are they talking about an exhaust resonator or the intake silencer being removed?

I don't have an exhaust resonator on my 4.7, but I have heard of guys taking the intake silencer off to make the 4.7 sound better in the Dakota. Maybe they are referring to that as a resonator.

I am gonna remove my silencer eventually, the 4.7 is a "whiny" engine, drives me nuts.

The resonator I know of is on your intake also called the air hat

This is how one looks

Or this one off a Jeep with the same engine

Yeah that's what I was thinking 98DAKAZ, I think people refer to that as a resonator, as I guess it technically is. I've heard the 4.7 sounds better with it off. I want to try it, just have to figure out what to do with the small sensor that is in it, I think it's an air temp sensor possibly.

That pic you put up from the Jeep is actually has the correct name of the engine on it also. Just recently found out that the 4.7 isn't a Magnum engine.

That mod helps too. A little. But I believe when we are taking about the Resonator we are talking about the Catalytic convertors. The 4.7 will have 1 on each side just below the exhaust manifold and there we be a pre (upstream) o2 sensor and a post (downstream) o2 sensor than a 3rd catalytic converter just before the muffler. It can be very expensive to replace if you replace the whole unit. When they become clogged some people will cut them out and replace with a straight piece of pipe and use spark plug bungs for the o2's. Or they will just hollow out the cats and put them back into the truck.

What do you do with that little sensor that's in the silencer right before the throttle body when you do this mod, also what exactly is that? I was thinking air temp possibly.

Yes air temp sensor you can get something like this

http://www.siliconeintakes.com/produ...fb0313cc5c1383

You may need an adaptor they have them great place for silicone tubing but not cheap http://www.siliconeintakes.com

Please take note I have never done this but many use this for custom air inlet tubing or buy a cold air intake kit they have them for the 4.7 it may have the air temp hole already for you
