My 01 Dakota is just called "Rusty". I drove my '88 Dakota until 2008 (<90k) then the frame was rotted - sold it for $500 which was less than the plow and wheels were worth.

 

My dakotas name was layla(like the song lol) The lyrics were kinda like the relationship with her.

 

My friend named mine the Goat after all the hills we were climbing but i cant help but think GTO when i hear that.

 

I call it "Truck" or sometimes "Dakota"

I call mine Hope.

Hope: It starts.
Hope: It doesn't leak.
Hope: The 4 wheel drive works.
Hope: Check engine light doesn't come on.
Hope: It doesn't stall.
Hope: I don't get a flat.
Hope: It can't read this post!

You get the point.

 

I look at a car/truck this way keep it simple stupid and it will last you for a long time.

Unfortunately most people want all the bells and whistles that later fall apart and cost a small fortune to keep running
