It’s all a disgusting racket by the tow company’s the insurance company’s and the banks.

You need to be aware when an accident happens what you could be charged for and what the insurance company will pay or not pay for.

This includes who should arrange towing but usually the insurance company pays all towing fees as to if that is tacked on to the estimate that I don’t know.

I think my Dakota was almost totaled because the body shop pumped up his estimate as high as he could he was trying to line his pockets with an inflated estimate

This is why I always try to settle w/o insurance, if I can. I've heard some shops will double/triple the estimate to get their $$.

Yes, towing is tacked onto the insurance bill. At least with our policy, it is. The only time something happened that I didn't tow the truck home myself, was when I had a freeze plug fail and my dad was out of town, and when I went off the road into a ditch ($85 for a flatbed my parents paid cash for, freeze plug billed to insurance which was forwarded to us). Both accidents I drove away (with significant damage), we towed it home with the ram when my PCM failed, and I've left it at school and brought tools from home a few times when it's had something go wrong at school.

If the bank still owns the truck, you're [censored]. It's totaled and your insurance and credit rating probably will both reflect it.

Well, goodbye guys, truck is officially totaled, $7000 damage, truck valued at $6500, so with paying off the bank and the deductible, I got $2500 down payment to go truck shopping, if I find another dakota I would be happy with ill chime in but honestly I think only a RAM can suit my needs now, it was a good 3 years hanging out on the forum, even tough only been a member for a little over a year you guys have helped me so much. RIP my Green machine, you will be missed :'(
