replacement filters/valves/sensors
Hi all, been looking around on the forums and seem to miss what am looking for. is there any brand i should stay away from when replacing filters, PVC valves and sensors.
A lot of this is personal preference.
I usually use Wix for the filters, or NAPA Gold. They're just rebranded versions. I will run Mopar filters too.
For the PCV valve, I tried an aftermarket and it was a piece of junk. It didn't want to fit right and felt like it would break in my hands. I now get them from Dodge.
Stay away from Bosch on your O2 sensors. They may work on some other engines/vehicles but not on Dakota's.
Some sensors I've used "Standard Motor Parts" but lately, I'm heading back to Dodge. I'm hearing too many complaints about aftermarket and for the few $ more, it's worth it to me to do it once.

+1 on Wix. Those are very good oil and air filters for the price. Wix also makes the lower line Napa Silver and Carquest Red Label oil filters, those will do fine for a normal 3,000 mile oil change interval. Purolator oil and air filters are also very good. Wix and Purolator are all made here in the USA. Purolator is the supplier right now for the Mopar oil filter and Purolator also makes PCV valves too. I use those on my 3.9 and never had any problems with them.
I realize it is personal preference but I stay away from STP/Champion e-core oil filters, they have a plastic inner cage and there have been reports of oil pressure dislodging pieces of the filter element and sending it through the cage and into the engine, causing a lot of engine damage. Fram has a bad reputation as well, but there are millions of cars out there running Frams right now with no trouble. There are several other oil and air filter choices that are better quality than Fram for either the same or less money.
Use NGK or NTK for oxygen sensors, Dan is right on about Bosch O2's, they do not work very well in Dodges for some reason. It is cheaper to order NGK online. NGK is also the supplier for OEM Mopar O2's. For ignition parts, sensors and other electronic parts I think Echlin is the best. You can get those at Napa. Standard Motor Parts used to be American made and great quality. Like a lot of other parts, they moved their manufacturing overseas and some quality has gone down the drain. There are still some parts that are made here in the USA and I try my dead-level best to buy American whenever possible. You have to really shop around for the best deal on the best quality parts. Napa parts are usually very good quality but they often have two or sometimes three different lines, which are cheap Chinese replacement parts and then they have the premium OEM grade replacement lines. I have found that I usually have to ask for the better quality parts at Napa, they do not always offer or quote prices on the better parts when you call or stop in the store. Their lower line quality parts are the same cheap Chinese parts you can buy anywhere else. Not all Chinese made parts are bad quality, but a lot of it is junk.
One other thing I have found is Autozone seems to be selling a good amount of quality US-made parts now. The water pump and power steering pump I put on my truck both came from Autozone and I have had absolutely no problems with either one, and the water pump I bought was new, not rebuilt, it was made here in the USA and my PS pump was remanufactured here in the USA too. I don't have much info on Autozone electrical parts, I replaced my MAP sensor about 4 years ago with a Duralast sensor from Autozone and it is still doing fine. Personally I think it is best to use Napa OEM grade or Mopar for electrical parts. Carquest is good quality too, usually the same as Napa OE grade but Carquest is normally crazy expensive.
If you have the time to wait for shipping, www.rockauto.com has good prices on good parts too, you just need to research and watch who they use for their suppliers. Like Napa and Carquest, they usually have 2 or 3 different levels of quality. I have had good luck and good results with Rock Auto, and saved money as well.

Very cool thank you for the info, already heard about bosch, and heard when replacing plugs go with standard OEM replacement. Changing my PVC on Tuesday, and get most of my parts from O'Reilly's . Had pretty good luck with them.
once again thanks
