maybe the o-ring is glued in place against the sidewalls and won't allow the tube to raise up!
Yes yes

Granted, I'm not near as strong as i used to be... I tried the slow pull and all I get is a strained gut, arms and hands.

Hot engine did nothing, can't even twist it now.

Went and got a replacement from O'Reiley's last night. Before "going to town on the SOB, (carefully read here) I tested to see if the plug would fit onto the new coil. Slid right on... then didn't click into place. hmmmm, tried it on #1 and same thing; slid on but didn't click to stay on.

So do I trust to use a zip tie or return this one and get a different one from somewhere else?

so glad I didn't get aggressive with it just yet, whew! Newest idea is to use gear puller arms fastened under the lip, secure vice-grips to the upper rod and hammer up; something like a slide hammer, without the slide.

I can see now where NOT using the o-ring may not hurt a thing. After removing the coil tube, you're going to blow it out anyway, right?

I think you are scared of breaking it so you are not using the power you should be I think twisting will do nothing a straight up is what is needed have you tried giving it a few solid wacks down with a hamer it just may break it lose a quick few rapps on top. Sounds like the coil will need or may get destroyed just to get it out

That's why I purchased the $25 coil. But the connector will not snap into place with the new coil.

I purchased a BWD p/n E232 from O'Reiley's. I'm hoping someone has purchased a better coild that the connector snaps together properly and can comment.

Perhaps I should start a new thread to address the replacement coil specifically.

I read that thread after getting the replacement coil from Rock Auto. Having the replacement allowed me to pull and tug and pry and cuss.... without worry of being stuck, right? ummmm, more cussing when the coil broke in the hole; just above the o-ring location.

Being later in the afternoon, I had a panic moment and called my shop to finish the work. While driving there, I started thinking how easy it would not be to maybe just drill it out,,,, I went anyhow, and brought all the supplies to finish the job with the replacements.

Get a call an hour later... they pulled the old piece out, put (my) new plug and coil in, all sewed it up in 10 minutes from 2 of them. The new coil went in easy as pie, so I'm thinking the swallowing is the issue I need to replace the other side in the rear. Both 7 & 8 were the hardest to remove. $25 per coil can be replaced over a few months without busting the bank (with the other cash I've been putting into her, the wife doesn't need to see the ouch factor all at once, again).

Thanks for the support, y'all!
