98dakaz,

if im not mistaken, its not a cable for the relase, it is a handle is plastic on a solid metal rod, wich when pulled it releases the pawl and relases the brake.. the best bet is to push down on brake just slightly, to take pressure off the pawl, and stick a flat head screwdriver in there and release the pawl, and let the brake release....

THE BRAKE PEDAL IS UNDER PRESSURE... IF RELEASING WITH SCREWDRIVER, GUIDE THE BRAKE PEDAL TO FULL RELEASE. IT COULD CAUSE INJURY IF RELEASED UNDER PRESSURE

Yes you dont want to be near the pedal as it will release. That info page is out of a 2003 only FSM Im just going by that as my Dak is a 98.

Im betting the release cable or pull rod is still under their find it and pull use logic and common sense.

i couldnt agree more... but i decided to put that all caps disclaimer in there anyway for the few that dont use or have common sense.. i can say that most of us have learned to either not do, or how to do something, the hard way.. and that usually means the first time we did something odds are we didnt use common sense

Yessss

this worked. thanks

there was no cable, i think it was removed but i dont get why the pedal was still stuck, i thought if there is no cable then the pedal should not stick to the ground anyways on the side there was this small lil lever which looked useless and i accidentally hit the screwdriver with and when i pulled the lever with my driver the pedal automatically started to release and then it was fully released.

Thats great. so happy with this buy

It may be sticky.

Normally, you pull that lever, sounds like a shotgun going off.

At release it should make a rather loud pop noise and quickly pop in the out position.

If not a few things to check the rear brakes they may be almost completely worn out and need new shoes or maybe the parking brake having no pull release hasn’t been used in many years and is a bit rusted up or just mucked up and needs lubrication.

I would check the rear brakes pull the drums off and get a look at them.

One other thing may be going on the rear brakes are way out of adjustment but this is also an indication of worn shoes

This is shown as the needed release Rod I dont think it includes the handel so you may need to make your own or junkyard http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/...2078977AD.html

$6
