Default quick trans question, HELP ME PLEASE... I BEG

ok i have a Model year 2000 Dak w/the 3.9L v6 with a 42RE trans. as im doing a frame off resto (mainly for the body, motor an trans r running long an strong) i pulled hte motor and trans fo clean and paint the frame... the trans fill tube came outta the trans.. HOW DO I PUT IT BACK IN?!?!?!

oh and i should mention when the trans fill tube came out of the trans, it was seperated from the motor and sitting on a pair of old LO PRO tires, and when it came out, fluid drained from the trans.. NOT ALL OF THE FLUID THOUGH.
it still has fluid in it, and it is registering on the dip, its probably only shy 1.5 qts.

the biggest question is, HOW DO I GET THE TUBE BACK IN!!!??????!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!

Are you talking about the trans dip stick itself?

I had to take the oil dip stick off my 6.9 Diesel, and it (the outer tube that the dip stick rests in) just kind of sits in there. I would think the trans dip stick is the same way. However, there should probably be an O ring on the end. I put one on the dip stick tube just to be safe.

Be sure to put some sort of wood on the top where you will be hitting it with the hammer... If you hit the metal directly with the hammer, it will most likely bend.
