I just bought a 2000 Dakota CC 4X4 with 183000 miles on it with the 5 speed manual. Had it for a couple days now and it seems to run great. I am hoping to get well over 200000 miles on it like others have posted.

Default 2002 Dodge Dakota extended cab 4.7 v8

480,032. And still going. That's with a thousand pounds bolted to the bed of the truck for the last 15 years. Never had any problems with the truck but it has always had regular maintenance. Plus it's been totaled twice and his still kept running perfectly. I replace the transmission I'm the second accident around four hundred 475,000 MI just to be safe. I put a used bed on it and had to put a AC compressor. I am now a True Believer in Dodge

480,000 is crazy! Regular maintenance is definitely everything and there's the proof.

My current 2003 4x4 has 240,000 and runs great.

Before that I had a 2001 4x4 that died at 285,000 due to engine failure and I junked the truck.

They are very reliable. People also bash them a lot saying they have a sludge problem, but usually it's due to poor oil maintenance. They don't take well to overheating though (does any engine?) ... so it's really important to keep up with coolant level and cooling system issues.

I agree. I never expected the engines last like this but I'm more surprised how great it sounds and I'll smooth it runs. Especially having 802000 pounds on it for about 15 years. On top of that it was rear-ended twice. The only thing that I I've done to it after the accident was put a bed and bumper back on it. The transmission was still running but it did have a little pause between second and third gear. It's still raining great perfectly smooth all I had to do was take my foot off the gas pedal when it got ready to change from second to Third and it was a perfect shift. I decided to get another transmission just to be safe. I still drive it today and I'm hoping to put 750 thousand miles on it

That's even more impressive! You beat this thing by 2000 lbs...

The only major replacement that I have done to my 4.7 ram is the sensors in the tranny. But that was my fault hauled to much fence post with it.
