5.2 more powerful than a 4.7? nonsense. The 4.7 motor was built to replace the 5.2/5.9 for a better fuel economy as well as produce the same amount of power and although the 4.7's can't be as built as the 5.2/5.9..YET the motor is still fairly new. I've seen Turbo 4.7's that CRANK. If you are looking to buy a 5.2 I have one for sale. It's the 5.2 blockand is out of a '74 CHARGER. and stock it can be built up to 300hp / 350ft-lbs with all stock settings... let me know if your interested I have almost all the parts aside from the intake, carburator and a newer oil pan.
and 5.2's are AWESOME motors.

I'd like to see this magical 300hp stock '74 318. That's BS plain and simple. Yes there are 300hp (and much more) 318's out there but they are not stock. The 318 that was recently built (professional race engine builder) for my old 'cuda is far from stock and only dyno'd at 295 with headers. Don't get me wrong it's a great engine and I've dealt with quite a few (ranging from 1980-2001) without ever having a major problem. Even though I knew it was coming, I was truly sad to see it go away. As one of the last 5.2's available you'd have to pry the keys of the old mans '01 5.2 5spd 4x4 Ram from his cold dead fingers.

RE: 5.2 good/bad?
i had a 97 fullsize with the 5.2 and i would spin the tires everyday all day. after 168000 miles the water pump went. only problem i ever had. besides changing the bateery. but my 05 4.7 has more power and gets better mileage but its in my dak. also it is a hemi killer with the cam upgrade and custom flashing.. 5.2 is a very good motor. i pulled stumps with it. plowed, towed and litterally beat the snot out of it and could not kill it.

RE: 5.2 good/bad?
the 318 is virtually indestructable. my boss has a 318 in his ram and he ran the thing OUT OF OIL.he was getting ready to leave work one day and it started doing this ticking noise so he checked the oil and it was BONE DRY. we started putting oil in it and you could actually hear it hit the bottom of the oil pan, that's how dry it was. we filled it up, and he started it up and it was perfectly fine. oh and the motor has over 200k miles on it.
