Default Whats the name of this part?

Hi all, am trying to find the name of this part, on my truck 2000 SLT 4.7 the front brake caliper what is that connected to, i hear people say it the upper A frame. i need to replace one due to the caliper bolt does not tighten like it should getting striped out. I know there a plugs you can use but am not.

The caliper slide pin I think is what you are talking about you can get over size threaded replacements but I dont know were AutoZone is the place I think

been looking in my book, and thinking it called the steering knuckle, but when i look on auto zone it;s not listed so really not sure,

Am redoing my front end new upper/lower control arms, CV shafts, caliper's, brakes.

Its a steering knuckle. The 2 red circles are where the caliper mounts. You can get a whole new knuckle(wont be cheap and a lot of work) You can get away with it for about 20-40.00. Either oversized caliper bolts or heli coil it. My dakota had the over sized bolts in it when they stripped so I had to get a heli coil kit and drill it out and put a new coil in back to the original bolt size

If you want a new knuckle good luck on that as they are very pricy I think they run $1K a piece now

The fix an over size pin or the heli coil

Ya, been looking at the prices for the knuckes not cheap at all, will look into the heil coil and the over size pin,

So the helicoil is bigger than the oversize? I have oversize now, good to know I have more room to work with.

why not just get one from the wrecking yard or on dak-dur there is a few part outs going on im sure you can pick one up cheap

Yes to get the heli coil in I had to dril and then tap to put the heli coil in. I used the M9x1.25 I got it from napa it was like 39.00. Which using that will drop you back down to the orig size

I've had an oversized caliper bolt in the drivers side for 10 years now and have had it in and out several times and still works like a charm. A cheap no hassle fix.
