2000 Dak "No Bus" error
ok so after reading a billion posts about the no bus issue, ive narrowed it down to, PCM, Cluster, Crank Position sensor, and possibly a bad ground.
now heres the story. i regasketed the upper half of the motor (3.9) and assembled it all, wired it all.. lost a few ground point nuts, so im improvising with self tapping screws. i am concerned that missing a ground or not having all the proper ground straps in place is causing a NO BUS error. i spend 30 minutes with AAA today trying to jump my dak(batt is dead like elvis)..
i have since got a booster pack. but the question is this, can a missing our not connected ground ANYWHERE on the vehicle cause a no bus error? i do intend on starting simple, grounds and connectors first.
PLEASE HELP ME.

Bad grounds can cause a non-start.
The whole truck is a computer. All the grounds need to be in place, clean and tight.
Test the cluster. Key off. Press and hold the trip reset button then turn the key on and hold it. Release when CHEC appears in the odometer. The gauges will sweep, the lights test, and it should display cluster codes in the odometer.
Try to pull codes off the PCM. It may not work with no bus. Starting with the key off, key on, off, on, off, leave on. Codes in the odometer.
It may also be a short. A short to the crank or camshaft position sensor can cause no bus. Basically anything the shorts out the CCD bus and you've got a no bus issue.
Hope it helps.
