Did you seal it or just plug it in?

O YEA gaskets are great. i put sealer only on one side of the gasket, mostly the side that comes off when you that the part off.

Where did you get your plug? I am trying to find a decently priced one since mine is leaking ever so little but still making the cover wet

I don't use any sealer on the gaskets and they don't leak a drop. But I also have aftermarket covers on my differentials, so they're stronger and flatter than the stock sheet metal covers.

New plugs are from rockauto $2 +shipping but I think I got my plug from Autozone no didnt use any sealer on the plug no leaks from it.

I wonder if your differential breather is plugged up check it look for a small rubber hose coming off the diff going up there will be a small plastic cap on the hose thats the breather I made a custom breather for my Dakota

Thanks, I know when I changed my diff oil 2 years ago I didn't replace the plug and the wet part is just below the plug. I'll check the breather tho as well. Thanks

OK, thanks for the info. I noticed that on mine the last time it was taken off they put the blue sealer around the edge and didn't know if that was the standard thing to do.

They also tend to get hard and crack. The last time I had a diff cover with that stupid rubber plug, I welded a 1/2" pipe bung in the hole and used a real plug.
