Default popping ratching sound from front.

Hey guys, I did a bunch of searches on this topic but couldn't come up with any good consistent solutions for my issues so here goes. Thanks in advance for your help.

Upon acceleration there is this popping ratchinging sound from the front left axle area.

Only happens when acceleration up to about 25mph. Doesn't speed up with speed increase, doesn't get worse or change when turning a corner.

No noise when braking.

I can bounce the front manually and nothing.

I crawled under and shook the front drive shaft u joint and it doesnt feel loose.

There is no vibration through the steering wheel.

I would assume that if it were a cv joint It should make a lot of noise or at least get worse when turning since there is greater pressure put on the u joint in this situation.

I DO know that the brakes and rotors need replaced. So the theory of sticking caliper or brake pad noise is relevant.

What has been your experience in this issue? I would like to get close to a solution before dumping money into "it could be" repairs.

Thanks again.

I'm going to agree with Bulldog. Check your front propeller shaft again.

It "might" be easiest to just take it out to inspect it/test drive it. You can drive your truck with it removed, safely. Just put it in 4wd lock. Then listen for the noise.
