I checked out the Hooker Aero on Holley's website. Unless I'm missing something, they don't have anything remotely similar to the 24" long, 6" round muffler that I've got now.

I don't want to cobble something together myself and I definitely don't want to give an exhaust shop any excuses to charge me crazy money to put it in.

I guess the simplest thing would be to find a Gen 2 Dakota R/T and just measure the muffler.

Look into Magnaflow or Dynomax Ultraflo. I believe the RT muffler is or is very similar to the Ultra-flo muffler. Magnaflow doe offer 20"+ mufflers.

Have you priced an OEM muffler from the dealer? I haven't, but if it's like most OEM parts, it will cost you more than an aftermarket stainless muffler and the labor for a muffler shop to add a short piece of pipe to make it fit.

I like a quiet auto for one reason I have bad tinnitus in both ears very bad its funny but I'm so good at ignoring it I don't even notice it most of the time but I don't want to make it worse. The job I did put me close to very noisy machinery for about 20 years loved the job but it was noisy.

So I put a nice quiet muffler on my Dakota

Well I will say this at 24'' that is not an OEM muffler I have the 2.5 engine and the monster that was under my Dakota was way bigger than that you must have an aftermarket muffler now.

The one I have now is around 24'' and I love it just a little louder than OEM most people say I have a very distinctive sound to my Dakota

All OEM mufflers are big monsters especially truck mufflers

Just measured it 18'' round magnaflow this is not my model but same size I think mine is no longer available and its not a Magnapack model

I mentioned the same thing earlier Tom A... An OEM muffler will probably cost several hundred dollars. I bought my hooker Aero and had installed for a total of $150... It took the shop like 30 minutes and it was done. They just had to add in one small 6-8" section. I think you're going through way too much trouble to just get a stock muffler. I doubt the R/T muffler is even much different from the regular stock muffler that came on other Dakotas.
