body mount bushings
ok people, as yall may know, i am doing a rebuild and adding a lift to it. the STOCK bushings are toast, and its 4-500 bux for a complete set (cab and lower core support). in lieu of spending that much for new bushings (local parts stores dont have em, Napa, AAP, or AZ) so in lieu of that im thining hockey pucks...
my question is is this a good idea or not? or if people have done it what was your experience with it?
lemme know everyone, your input is GREATLY appreciated..

oh i dknow, thats the performance parts 3" lift, or something like that, im looking for more than that, i got the actual lift brackets and ****, but i need bushings, and i figured 14 bux for 12 of em, i cant go wrong (for the pucks)
ive seen the puck lift done here in MA constantaly, but big thing is seeing there a high density rubber or something like that, i figured they be just as good as bushings

I honestly wouldnt run pucks. Seems like a temp fix to me that might not fit that well. There has to be something out there that interchanges with dakota. Could always take a trip to the junk yard and see if you can find anything close.
98Dak, even the online retailers want 200+ for the bushings and isolators. ive devised my own lift kit with the assistance of my cousin (civil engineer) and magnethead as well. magnet has run the numbers with me, its all gonna work, the bushings were a last min add on, it was originally designed as a RIGID Body Lift. but i thought if i could slice the pucks in half, i could use each half to act as a bushing.
basically frame point, puck, lift, puck, body with a bolt running thru it all tightening it to the body and frame.
Yea you Shure wouldn't expect $50 each would ya for some rubber.
Did ya try these guys http://energysuspension.com/products/body-mounts.html

I agree with this were they mount it may start cracking around the cab mount
The biggest problem with this plan is that hockey pucks are hard. They won't give you any of the benefits of bushings. And while I have never tried a rigid body lift, it seems to me like it would give a harsh ride and flex the body more than it's designed for.
