Default Front Differential Help

I have a 2002 Dakota 3.9 4x4 with the 355 gears in my front differential. Mine leaked and ran dry with the previous owner so I picked a used one up at a salvage yard. I'm trying to replace the seals on the new one I picked up but can't figure out how to get the pinion shaft out of the case. I want to pull the spline shafts out and replace the seals on each side of the case since I have it out... my Haynes manual says to remove it but doesn't say how! There seems to be a pin or something going through one side of the shaft but its just a hollow hole and I can't really see anything but light on the other side. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance, and thanks for all you guys have done to help me learn already.
