I have a 1999 Dodge Dakota 2wd Reg Cab, and I have been thinking about lifting it with the 3 inch performance accessories kit. How hard is this to install though? Is there any welding required? I have done a lot of work on vehicles with my uncle but never anything such as a lift. I do not have access to a welder and don't know how to weld so I would want to make sure there is no welding required. I was also wondering if this would level out the truck as well? Would I need to buy anything other than the 3 inch lift kit? Thank you

Like Custer said you can use the other link. But the short of it is a body lift is pretty straight forward. 2 people can pull it off in about 8- 10 hours. This will only lift the body. If you want to level it you will need spacers for the coil springs on a 2wd. to lift the front and level with the back.

If you go to Performance Accessory web site there is PDF with the instructions on how to install and would give you a better idea of what you are dealing with.

 

thanks guys. I was also wondering with a 3" lift what is the biggest tire I could put on? I wouldn't put the biggest but just wanted to know. Also how big of a tire could I put on without the MPG taking a big nosedive?

 

31's I would say.

 

with a 3 inch body you should be able to tuck 33's but they wil rub, i have a 6inch suspension and 3 inch body and i put my body lift on in one day. you will get a steering linkage extender, and you will get all your blocks, you shouldnt have to extend any brake lines, i think 1 or 2 short lines thats it if any. i had to extend 2. other than that you will be set in a days work!!

 

I installed my 3" body lift on my 03 quadcab in 8 hours by myself. It is not difficult but with the amount of bolts needed to remove/install it is a slow process.

I have 285/76/16 tires and had to trim a little to make them fit. They do rub the frame a little but only at full lock.

 

i installed body lift last week, the hardest was removing front bumper, u do need to weld overload spacers in the box.

i put 315-70-17s yesterday, they dont rub but they only clear by 1/8th.

logically if i install a leveling kit, this will raise and make gapping better right?

ps i have 4x4 though

 

The overload spacers aren't really necessary.

I didn't install mine and I've had 1200 lbs worth of flooring, dirt, and river wash in it.

 

Ottowadakota if you just crank your torsion bars that would level it out for you
