Default Opinions... 33x12.5 or 33x10.5

Looking to get some opinions on whether or not I should go with 33x10.5x15 tires or 33x12.5x15.

By far the majority of tires are 33x12.5 but I do see the 33x10.5 on Jeeps a lot.

Things to keep in mind: I have a 3.9L with 3.92 gears and I WANT TO BE ABLE TO USE OD.

I think either or would look fine, I'm just looking something to be good in the mud, but also but the least amount of strain on my tranny.

Do you guys think the extra 2 inches adds a noticeable amount of weight to the tire so strain the tranny more than the 33x10.5?

I currently have 31x10.5 on it now and I think it looks fine, but the wider tires definitely look better but I would prefer making it easy on the truck as possible so this is where I would like to her some opinions!

Thanks,

I think the difference in rolling resistance with the wider tires will be noticeable. I don't know if it will be enough to be an OD-killer, but you'll feel something. That said, they definitely look better.

I think the narrower tires will probably be better in snow and most mud (except the bottomless variety). It kinda just depends on what's important to you.

12.50's will rub pretty good at full lock. I went from 31x10.50x15's(factory size) on my 98 5.2 and I went to a 32x11.50x15. First I noticed at full lock they did rub a little. Wasnt bad but they did somewhat. Next I noticed that even having a v8 the od would kick out a little quicker than it used to. Even tho I had the same make and model tires as before but only a size bigger. The 12.50's ive been told wont fit on the rims but ive saw some guys that have done it. Also they WILL rub. You can go with 11.50s

Yeah I expected some rub no doubt and I don't mind trimming.

I'd like to jump to 33's from 31's... I don't think 32's would be worth it IMO.

Tom answered it in terms of the resistance with the wider tires.

There is a sale here for 33x10.5x15 BFG A/T's for only $194 - in Canada that's a great price.

I was thinking more, sway bar. But yea, the frame will too. And possibly the cab some.

Yeah the frame too, i'm pretty sure I get rub at full lock while backing up now so maybe 33x10.5 is the better option here.

I could always get wheel spacers later on! Kidding - I don't like them and haven't heard good things about em!

Thanks again guys!
