Default Odd sound when driving after truck sits for a little while

I have a 2003 Dodge Dakota SLT Quad cab 4x4 with the 4.7 V8.

The problem I've been having is when I drive off either first thing in the morning it seems the truck is sluggish driving down the street for a block or two and it makes it sound like the engine is "louder" then usual. Once I've driven for that amount of distance or so, the louder "engine" sound smooths out to a normal sound and all is good afterwards. This problem seems to be intermittent, doesn't happen all the time but seems to be related to the longer the truck has sat, or the temperature outside. Anything to be concerned with? Had recent transmission service and that didn't appear to change symptom.

Has it always done this?

My truck is a 2003 Dakota QC SLT 4x4 4.7 w/towing package. It has 2 fans, 1 is an engine driven fan and the other is electric. Every time I start the truck both fans come on for the first 5 minutes or so, then the elec. cuts out.

This happens when I come out of Wally World, the Bank, wherever I turn the truck off, then get back in and take off.

It is completely normal. That's the way it is set up. An engine gets hotter when it is turned off after being run because you are no longer circulating the coolant, so both fans come on when you do start it back up to cool it down as fast as possible. Now why both fans come on when the OAT is 10 degrees in the morning I have no idea.

Hope this helps.

Agree. It's likely your clutch fan. It can be noisy at start up but should quiet down fairly quickly.
