Default Only Clicks when starting

I have a 1998 Dakota 5.2, when trying to start the motor it only clicks once and never starts. Everything else works and I know it is not the battery it is fairly new. Would it maybe be the starter?

You could check your relays under the hood. my brother dakota did that and it was the asd relay or maybe the starter solinoid?

And don't rule out the battery just because it's fairly new.

Turn on the headlights. Are they bright? Try to start the truck and observe what they do. If they stay bright, the problem is likely the starter or a bad connection (other than the battery cables). If they go out, then come back on bright when you let go of the key, it's probably a bad battery cable connection (battery or engine end). If the lights go very dim, it's probably a bad (or just discharged) battery, or possibly the starter (but much more likely to be the battery).
