Default Better Tie Downs?

I don't know about the rest of you guys that tie stuff down in the bed, but the front tie downs are horrible to use. They are awkwardly placed and cannot be reached unless you are in the bed of the truck.

Anyway, I was curious if anyone had replaced their tie downs with cleats or something? I noticed that in my dad's 2005 Ram 1500 he has cleats in BOTH the front and the back.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I put a couple of quick chain links (5/16 or 3/8, I don't remember) on my front tie-downs and left them on permanently. They fall down into the holes when not in use (rubber plugs still fit), but pull up when I need them and make it easy to hook a strap or a rope.

I have enough room with mine and I don't need to get in the bed, if I'm using ratchet straps i'll just use the longest end and put those in the front tie downs, and feed them along to the front and ratchet them down.

01dak3.9: Where did you find those? I like them a lot! Depending on the price, this might be the fix!

I don't know why my signature and stuff didn't show up in that last post..

I just bought some quick chain links and put them in. MUCH better!

I'd still like to know where you found those though.

I hook our giant straps into the front of the bed. It's a tight fit, but it works. There's a little window they clip into perfectly.

And yes, it's legal for a civilian to transport 100 gallons of methanol. Barely. The weight limit is 999 pounds and each drum is 350 pounds or so
