my 2002 Dakota 4x2 v6 clunks when i'm backing out of a driveway, or sometimes when I am stopping at a stop sign...please help....

Have you checked the ball joints or tie rods?

 

or control arm bushings

 

one tie rod was replaced from former owner....I will check which one....but I have not
had the ball joints checked, that will be my next move...thanks for the tip....I would hope someone that had this exact problem will respond....

There can be many causes of clunking noises.

Ball joints are a known trouble area.
