Default ac issues on an 02 dakota

Since winter up here just ended we have had a couple of wam days so tried my ac but nothing but warm air. When i turned th ac kn the clutch wont engage and when i put a test meter to the connector going to the compressor i get 0 voltage. I do have 13.5 volts on pin 87of the relay andall fuses are good. A friend put an gauge on the low side port from his red tek kit and it read 65. obviousky to high could this be why the compressor wont turn on. I f not any suggestions. T here is no low pressure switch on the acumulator but on e to the left of the rad and tied into one of the ac lines
Thks

Just a thought. The A/C might be controlled somehow by the pcm, have you checked your codes?

I have a 96, so my actual knowledge about your truck is nonexistant & I don't have a service manual. A proper service manual (like from Chrysler) might help you diagnose the problem.

55 for low side is high dump some Freon and see what happens get it down to 45.

I live in Hot AZ and I have never gone higher than 45 or 50 for the low side

Remember this if using a Freon pump can in one the pressure reading could be off as much as 5 PSI

This is what I'm talking about one of these the pressure gauge is not accurate so 55 PSI could be 60 PSI

I merged the two threads together.

Before you do ANYTHING hook up a real gauge set, high and low pressure gauges, so we can get an idea as to what the system is doing. The gauges on the cans are junk.

Both pressures are needed to diagnose the system.
