grinding noise. transmission?
Ok. First off, I have know idea if I'm doing this posting thing right but...
I'm driving a 99 Dakota v6 4x4. There's a wonderful grinding noise when I drive. It doesn't matter the speed. I was driving going about 20 when it started. I thought maybe it could be the 4wd so I put it in and it still does it. The noise is around ware the 4wd shifter is on the floor. So it could be a number of things. I checked the ujoints and drive shaft and there all good. I'm praying its not the transmission. Goes in to all gears fine. Soo I'm stumped.... help!!

Does it do it when you are on the gas or is it all the time? Try the tranny in neutral and the transfer case in N as well. If it still does it id put the truck on jack stands and then put it in drive and see if it continues. You can at least rule out front wheel bearings.
That's exactly what I did. So its def not the wheel bearings. Its my transfercase : ( I had know idea that was some thing that could just go like that with out any real sign. This there any thing u can do to revile it or just get a new one?!
