Ok so i replaced my intake manifold gaskets and valve cover gaskets on my 97 3.9. Took a while to get it fired back up.... but when i did... it runs rough as all hell and it backfires probably about 3 times every 5 seconds. I have no idea what the problem is so any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Doug
Sounds like you have a massive air leak between the throttle plate and the cylinders, causing a lean condition. Could be a mis-aligned gasket or a hose or fitting loose or not connected.
How easy is it to misalign a gasket? I was pretty maticulas when i put them in place. I made dowels out of the old bolts when i put the manifold down on it... it was one and done, no shifts at all. Thanks for the reply
