Hello,I have a 2002 Dakota quadcab sport w/3.9.For the past 2 wks I have been having issues.I get in truck then put key in ignition then headlights start to flash,gate open,brake warning light & cargo lamp on starts flashing on the dash along with the door chime going off anyone know what could cause this.Other than this all gauges r working fine & truck runs well.

 

have you checked the fuses and relays? thats where i would start and you could take it to a shop that can get you the codes off a computer but be careful they could be wrong these trucks will have something simple wrong like a bad battery and throw all kinds of wack codes.

Sounds like one of two things a poor or bad ground or your central timing unit is crapping out on you look at your under dash grounds first check the service manual.

 

Is it possible to run 02 Dakota without ctm installed?

 

no no no and no. the system wouldn't let me post just a single "no"; perhaps I got carried away.

 

You can check codes by turning the key to the on position 3 times in a row.(On-off-on-off-on. About 1 or 2 sec delay when you are in the on position) Any codes will be displayed in the odometer. Im betting none will be but you never know. As far as the problem im betting its the ctm. You can get one from a junk yard but it must have all the same features your truck does. Easiest route is order one from the dealer(call around to a few and find the lowest price) When you get it dont let them install it. They will most likely charge you like 50.00 to do it when it literally takes 5 min to do and is easily accessible(behind the driver side kick panel below the parking brake) The dealer will need to program it if you have keyless entry.
