Does anyone know if the 2003 Dodge Dakota SLT Quad Cab V6 3.9L 2WD models have a chip in the key? Mine has been working without one &I all of a sudden it stopped and my mechanic thinks it is suppose to have a chip in the key. I don't think it does since its been working for 4-5you years without but maybe ig just started working. To check do you need a vin number or anything?

 

Is ur key grey? Grey=chip black=no chip

 

I don't have the orginal keys and I'm trying to figure out if it is suppose to.

 

I think they started using chipped keys in 00 or 01

 

Does it have the factory installed security system? If it does, you will likely have a chip key
