Default 01 4.7L idle issues

I have a 2001 4.7L 4WD that will not idle. You have to press the gas pedal a bit to start it, but when you release the pedal, the truck dies. I have replaced the IAC valve and was thinking that the TPS should be next. Any other ideas?

Welcome to the forum.

Do you have any codes? You can do the "key-dance" if you don't have a reader.

Starting with the key off, turn it to run (not start), off, run, off, then leave it in run. Any codes should display in the odometer.

Does the crankshaft position sensor effect the idle directly?

well my sensor was messed up to the point that the truck would start and start to studder and even stall out. the idle would jump up and down like it was on speed.

How's the fuel pressure? It could be a bad fuel pump. You can rent a gauge from Autozone to test.

It should be around 50 psi.

I will test the fuel pressure before I swap anything out.
