Default Spark Plugs Extra Tight

Ok, purchased a used 2000 with the 3.9L . Tried to change the plugs in my this weekend and could not break the plugs free. Any suggestions on how to get them free without breaking the block or stripping out the threads. Truck has 91.000 and probably original plugs. Was using a 3/8 socket wrench, 8 inch extension and even put a piece of pipe on wrench and applied a bit of torque and could not break free, bet there is some rust holding the plug, I stopped before I broke a plug or worse. The engine was cold. Thinking of spraying a bit of penatrating oil around the plug the night before and try again the next day. Any hints would be a help.

spray them down with some pen oil, and try to tighten them a little then try and brake them loose.

Agree

After penetrating fluid at least a day, try it with the engine warm (hot).

Make sure the sparkplug socket fits very snug no slop or you may end up rounding off the sparkplug then you have big problems.

Some cheap sparkplug sockets are a sloppy fit

I have a 99 Dakota 5.9l. I tried to replace them and found where the wires go from the distribution cap but cant get the wires off to get to the spark plugs. Should I also oil that to get to the plugs themselves or is there some way that the plug wires come off easy?

Sounds like whoever installed the wires last time forgot to coat the sparkplug boots with lube. No lube can cause the sparkplug boots to literally glue to the sparkplugs.

Only cure is twist the boots and try to get them off if not you will need to pull as hard as all Heck till they rip off the sparkplugs.

No amount of anything will loosen this problem up the sparkplug wires are fused to the sparkplugs

BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THOSE PLUGS. I speak from experience here. I changed the plugs on mine and one broke. The plug itself came out put the thread part stayed in the engine. 1500 bucks to remove the head and have the plug removed at the machine shop.
use some penetrating oil for a week or so then try it again. The other suggestions here are excellent so do them all if you have to. Good luck and be careful.
