Default First question lol. Leafspring bushings help.

I'm going to install polyurethane just cause I have 203,000 miles on my old rubber ones. I'm wondering if there are any writeups on how hard or easy this might be and if I will need to leave the old sleeves in. Thanks ahead of time.

Go to the web page that sells them they have instructions on the product regarding installation. IMO they suck and can squeak to hell on you driving you crazy and are not better than stock bushings. They can transmit sound into the frame also

Get better shocks not fancy bushings

By the way what Dakota do you own? 4x4 3.9 or 4.7 and what year is it

Default Spec

2000 2wd 3.9. I'm going with poly cause i had to put poly in the front and the rear bushings were cheaper than rubber. My front control arm bushings seem to go every 50,000 miles and I hope the poly will last longer. I know they can squeak but i'm hoping to lube the heck out of them.

Default Thanks.

It's all a pain lol. One day I hope to have a good enough job that I can let mechanics rip me off and not worry lol. Shop wanted 1100 to do my control arm bushings. It only cost me 52.00 total.

I hear ya on that shops cost big $$$ DIY is pain and time but way cheaper

Shops also have a bad habit of breaking as much as they fix they want you to keep coming back for more pocket picking.

Default Lol.

When my pinion seal went I did not trust myself to fix it. I took it to a local shop and 6 months later it busted again and the new shop let me watch as they tore it down. The seal was wrapped in a walmart bag and covered in loctite.

Angry

Wow that's one hell of a screw over from a shop almost as bad as paying $2k to fix my A/C that they never fixed and at the same time stripping out my compressor bolts, putting a hole on my heater core and never fixing the Freon leak they took 5 months and a new compressor trying to find.

I refuse to let anyone touch my Dakota but me anymore.

I hate shops and don't trust them as most don't have a brain among them or any morals but to rip you off every time you visit.
